Illness or Injury

Children are asked to remain home if unwell.

Children are sent to sick bay for numerous issues from scrapes and bumps to more serious conditions. In general, the decision to contact a parent/carer is at the discretion of the First Aid trained staff and is dependent on the perceived severity of the injury and/or the child's level of distress. Where a child has had a bump to the head, contact with parents will always be made.

When collecting their child, parents are advised to seek information from the staff about the child's condition.

In the event of a child becoming ill during the day or having an accident, every attempt will be made to contact the parent or the emergency contact person nominated by the parents. If this is not possible staff will seek professional medical assistance when necessary. In the event that ambulance transportation is required, the school will endeavour to gain parental permission beforehand. A member of staff will accompany the child if a parent is not able to be contacted.

Parents are asked to please notify the school of any infectious diseases diagnosed by a medical practitioner.
