Farrer Primary School Library

Our school library is located in the Robertson building at the heart of our school. It is open daily for children to visit with their class teacher to borrow, read, research topics and enjoying the benefits of exploring the world of books.

Our library collection provides students with a rich, diverse and vast array of early childhood picture books, junior fiction, fiction and non-fiction books to peruse, browse and enjoy. Students also have access to a fabulous collection of narrated e-books and audio books available on Oliver (the Library ICT system) through their school login via the digital backpack.

The library opens daily during the second half of lunch from 11:40am to 12:00pm. Students are able to access the library during these times to enjoy quiet reading time, play chess & board games and participate in drawing activities. During these library sessions our very helpful team of Year 6 Library Monitors support the students and attend to basic library duties.

Our school participates in the Chief Minister's Reading Challenge and National Simultaneous Storytime each year. The library holds a Book Fair that coincides with Book Week. Book Week celebrates stories written for children and young people, the Book Fair is open to the community. Details for Book Week and the Book Fair are shared with the community closer to the event which is usually mid-August.
