Japanese
‚悤‚±‚»! Youkoso Welcome!
All students at Farrer Primary are exposed to and explicit Japanese sessions. Students learn about Japan, its culture, people and language through songs, games and activities. Students are also exposed to and explicitly taught Japan's oral and written language.
In Kindergarten students are introduced to the hiragana script and this is continued throughout Years 1 to 6 where they are given many opportunities to practise their oral and written skills.
Our Japanese teacher works closely with classroom teachers to ensure that learning is parrallel to Integrated Inquiry units.
This semester Kindergarten students have been learning traditional Japanese songs about animals. They've also been working really hard practising recognising and writing the Japanese characters for different animals.
Stage 2 and 3 classes have been focussing on both domestic and zoo animals. They've been learning how to describe them using colour, body parts and adjectives.
