P&C (Farrer School Community Association)

The P&C is the voice of parents and the community on how the school is performing in the educational and social development of our children. The P&C is about contributing to making our school great for our children, our teachers, staff and parents. We do this by promoting discussion, providing services and raising funds.

The P&C meets twice a term, usually at 7.30pm in weeks 3 and 8 in the staffroom. We hear reports from the School Board and Principal, and discuss issues of concern or interest to parents.  The P&C administer the running of the uniform shop, the canteen, social events, fundraising and school banking as well as discussing subjects of concern or interest to families. We occasionally have presentations regarding related topics from teaching staff and invited guests.

Our fund raising activities are directed at a number of purposes

  • firstly, and most importantly, each year we pledge to provide the school with funds to be used to specifically support key learning areas;
  • secondly, we cover the administrative expenses of the P&C, council affiliation, insurance (ie Public Liability, P&C canteen equipment and uniform stock, bank fees, etc);
  • thirdly, we provide gifts to departing staff and hold a number of welcome and thankyou functions each year; and
  • undertake major projects.

In the past, major project undertakings by the P&C have included; the development and building of the Environment Centre; the redevelopment of the senior playground area; the purchase of smartboards for classrooms; and more recently the raised garden beds for the Environment Centre.

Our meetings are your chance to learn what is going on in your childs school and how we as a school community can assist in your childs learning. There are many ways in which you can be involved and all input is valued and encouraged.
